List of factors that can ensure the success
Madan Padaki of MeriTrac prescribes a list of factors that can ensure the success of large-scale online testing:
-
A sanitized infrastructure and a dry run in the lab. The lab needs tobe sealed two days before the exam and all the hardware and software should be examined.
- The backend and the user interface need to be contextualized for the Indian environment due to power problems and bandwidth issues. The system should be built around these challenges.
- The interface needs to be designed by understanding the psyche of the candidates. Candidates should not feel intimidated by the interface, or do something careless and exit the test prematurely.
- A preparedness or readiness test should be conducted. The entire system and processes must run flawlessly before the exam.
- Proctors and project managers must be trained to handle different situations and how to address the candidate’s questions.
- Parents and candidates have many queries. Helpdesks must be set up at colleges and there should be online or telephonic support.
